2. General information on data processing
We process personal data of our users only to the extent necessary to provide a functional website and our content and services. Processing is based on Art. 6(1) GDPR. This website does not use any tracking, analytics or marketing cookies.
3. Hosting
This website is hosted by an external service provider (processor):
STRATO GmbH, Otto-Ostrowski-Straße 7, 10249 Berlin, Germany.
On our behalf, the host processes the data technically required to deliver the website (in particular server log files, see section 4). The legal basis is our legitimate interest in a secure and efficient provision of our online offering (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). A data processing agreement pursuant to Art. 28 GDPR has been concluded with the host.
4. Server log files
When you visit this website, the hosting provider processes technically necessary access data. This may include in particular:
- IP address of the accessing device
- date and time of access
- requested page or file
- amount of data transferred and notification of successful retrieval
- browser type and version, operating system used
- referrer URL (the previously visited page)
Processing serves the secure and reliable provision of the website and the detection and defence of attacks. The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR; our legitimate interest lies in the secure and uninterrupted operation of the website. This data is not merged with other data sources or evaluated for marketing purposes.
Storage period (according to the hosting provider):
- Full IP addresses are stored for the detection and defence of attacks for a maximum of seven days.
- The web server log files provided to us contain anonymised host names or IP addresses (the anonymised identifier remains the same for no more than 24 hours) and can be retrieved for a maximum of six weeks.
- Error logs are available for the last five days, limited to a maximum of 100,000 entries.
5. Contacting us
5.1 Contact by email or phone
This website has no contact form. The buttons “Write an email”, “Show email” and “Show number” merely open your own email program or display our contact details; no data is transmitted to us or to third parties in the process. Only when you contact us by email or phone do we process the personal data you provide in order to handle your enquiry (Art. 6(1)(b) and (f) GDPR).
5.2 Storage period
We store the data transmitted when you contact us until your enquiry has been fully dealt with and there are no reasons for further retention. Statutory retention obligations (e.g. under commercial and tax law) remain unaffected.
6. Locally hosted fonts
This website uses the “Montserrat” typeface, which is hosted locally on the server. No connection to third-party servers (such as Google Fonts) is established when the pages are accessed; no personal data is transferred to third parties as a result.
7. Local storage (Section 25 TDDDG)
To store your display preference (light/dark mode), a technically necessary entry is placed in your browser’s local storage (localStorage). It is strictly necessary for the function you requested (Section 25(2) no. 2 TDDDG) and therefore does not require consent. It is neither evaluated nor transmitted to third parties. You can delete this entry at any time via your browser settings.
8. External links
Our website contains links to external services (e.g. LinkedIn, TU Munich / mediaTUM). When you click such links, you are taken to the websites of the respective providers, whose own privacy notices apply. We have no influence on the processing carried out by these third parties.
9. Data security
For security reasons and to protect the transmission of confidential content, this website uses SSL/TLS encryption. You can recognise an encrypted connection by “https://” in your browser’s address bar.
10. Your rights as a data subject
Under the GDPR you have the following rights:
- right of access (Art. 15 GDPR)
- right to rectification (Art. 16 GDPR)
- right to erasure (Art. 17 GDPR)
- right to restriction of processing (Art. 18 GDPR)
- right to data portability (Art. 20 GDPR)
- right to object to processing (Art. 21 GDPR)
- right to withdraw consent given (Art. 7(3) GDPR)
An informal message to the controller named above is sufficient to exercise your rights.
Right to object under Art. 21 GDPR
Where we process data on the basis of legitimate interests (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR), you have the right to object to this processing at any time on grounds relating to your particular situation. We will then no longer process the data unless we can demonstrate compelling legitimate grounds that override your interests, rights and freedoms, or the processing serves the establishment, exercise or defence of legal claims. An informal objection by email is sufficient.
11. Right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority
Without prejudice to any other administrative or judicial remedy, you have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority. The authority responsible for us is:
Der Landesbeauftragte für den Datenschutz und die Informationsfreiheit Baden-Württemberg
Lautenschlagerstraße 20, 70173 Stuttgart, Germany
